Welcome from the Dean
Business is the intersection of people and money. The College of Business is, not surprisingly, about programs you expect. Our undergraduate programs cover the traditional areas of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing. However, we also have areas a bit off the traditional business school track: Healthcare Administration, Geospatial Information Technology, and the music business. GIT puts you to work on questions much of the world is only beginning to ask. Our music business program is within the Delta Music Institute and is the only Mississippi-based program to be recognized among Billboard’s Top Music Business Schools . One graduate has a Grammy of her own. Finally, artificial intelligence is not just a single elective, but is incorporated across the curriculum given its widespread adoption within the business world.
At the graduate level, our accredited MBA and iMBA programs are taught both on campus and online, alongside the Master of Applied Science in Geospatial Information Technology. The MAS-GIT faculty include many who are using such tools across the world. Our classes are small on purpose, frequently 30 students or fewer. Our faculty came here specifically to teach at a school where a professor knows your name, remembers your last project, and holds you accountable.
As interim dean, I am still learning new things about the faculty, staff, and student body every day. If you are already on campus, stop by my office and introduce yourself. If you are still deciding, come see the college and discover the Fighting Okra spirit.
Ross Dickens, PhD
Interim Dean
